Tiles in Two Flavours

With plastering complete we are pleased to be able to move into the first real phases of decorating, those of tiling the bathroom and starting on the floor tiles. For the bathroom Mum has chosen a pale green theme. A darker green runs up for the fist three rows, with border strip above that and then a paler green version goes to the ceiling. These will run all round the bathroom including the back of the shower and the window reveals, plus the outside of the airing cupboard (hot press in 'Irish').

Sparks started this job on Wednesday once the bathroom ceiling had been plastered but could only do it in fits and starts as the plasterer boys kept banishing our boys from bits of the house where they wanted to work, especially the stairway. Sparks and Dad were reduced to tinkering about outside on bits of yard, bits of drainage and making bonfires of rubbish. Luckily it was a week of unseasonably warm weather, so working outside was pure delight. Birds were making plans for Spring everywhere and everything dried out superbly.
