No getting out of it.

As you can see from these pics, we did get a bit more snow over night, it coming down seriously off and on, but realistically it was the East end of Kent that bore the brunt (Dover etc) and we only woke up to an inch. Dad decided he couldn't really cry off a planned trip down to Bristol, getting a few worried texts from Mum before he got there about the state of more snow falling and maybe him not being able to get back.
He is now safely home and we are all safely gathered back into home and hearth. A nice warm pic of Haggis in a recent favourite position, stretched out really close to the fire. That always used to be Meggie's role "official fire-worshipper", but lately Haggis has adopted the position. He does look nice and warm.

Winter

It's that time of year again when we are allowed real fires. This pic's a bit of a cheat, being a couple of years back but it gives a nice warm idea of what I'm on about. Meg, needless to say.

Nice walk this morning, down through town while Dad looks around for inspiration on a quiz he has to "quizmaster" for the local Horticultural Society. In the purpose of that we get to meet a load of dogs on the Rec including brown and white Staffie, Frank, plus chihuahuas Trigger and Simba, long haired and short haired respectively. Trigger is a mad fast black guy who will chase around with anything that will chase around with him (I'm up for a bit of that). Simba is a very nervous rescue dog who is convinced he's gonna get mullered by every dog he meets. We help out with a bit of socialisation therapy there!

Meanwhile, it's all change in the Panini Room, with the new fridge freezer now fired up and filled, so the old fridge and freezer go variously to the shed and the dump. This computer gets a new screen.

All the best

Deefski.

Warming the Cockles

Nuff said we think. First coal fire of Winter - first pic is of Meg on the carpet basking, 2nd one is of me on the chair with Megan peeping underneath. H is there too. If you want to feel warm just double click either image and blow it up to full screen. You can almost feel the heat on your brow!

Jack Frost nippin' at your nose

Freezing evenings and cold frosty mornings. Proper frost to scrape off the car in the morning before Dad can start driving. First thing Dad does when he gets home is lay the fire. A pure indulgence - the house has central heating and in fact (Says Dad) the thermostat is in the dining room where the fire is, so the fire heats the thermostat, the heating turns off and the rest of the house goes cold!
Never mind, we (That's especially Mum, but also all three dogs and both cats, plus Dad) love a coal and log fire, so here's a pic of us stretched out tonight after our walk. Mississippi on the left, me centrally (natch!) and Felix right. Look carefully* and you can also see Haggis peering round the fire breast on the (oops - very grubby) dog bed to the right. Look even more carefully and you can see, bottom left a small fragment of Meggie (trust me! it is!). Dad is taking this shot. Mum is sitting at the dining table just out of shot to the right, reading a book, warming her "kiddlies". A blissful Friday night, when all's said and done. The entire family enjoying a real fire.
Have a great weekend
